Tips on Creating Plots
1) It is very important to know which character you want to pair the reader with. The country it personifies may give you inspiration on the time period, how the plot goes etc. A different character means a different attitude, which means the plot could run differently as well, according to the response the character would have given.
2) Knowing the time period your story is set in helps a lot too. Usually stories are set in modern day, but sometimes they are set in another time period. Remember to do research on that time period; you don't want to get any facts wrong.
